Diabetes And Bitter Gourd

I do not know how or what causes diabetes in an individual but i do know that those who are affected by it, do suffer. My father had it but i was too young to remember his pain.
One of my closest friends has it and his case is quite severe that he needs to visit a specialised hospital 40 miles from where he lives every two weeks. He does need to watch his diet and is insulin dependant. On some occasions his two hour visit has turned into a two - three day hospital stay. He does need to watch what he eats and has been told to cut out all sugar. He is not overweight and at first glance you wouldn't even know he is a sufferer. He always seems happy to me, but thats just the outside and because he is in a public relation job, he needs to put up a brave front. It wasnt until a few weeks ago that he confided in me how awful he really felt every day, and that his sugars were quite high.
Is there a cure? I dont know the answer to that. However after speaking to my mother who is 75 and knows alot about alot of things, she told me to get him some bitter gourd, wash it in cold water, split it in half, take out the seeds, scoup out the white inside, put it into a food mixer, add a little water and salt. Process it for a minute and then just drink the mixture.
It not the best drink in the world to taste, but then any medicine one takes for any illness has a strange bitter after taste in your mouth.
Did it work for my friend? Yes absolutely, he felt much better then he had in nearly two years. His count was at a reasonable level. Will it work for everyone? I do not know the answer to that but there is no harm in trying it out.
Bitter gourd can be bought in most asian grocery stores.

I'm an insulin-dependent type 2 diabetic. Last night my blood glucose level rose to 232mg/dl. I attributed this to my lack of sleep for several nights now because I'm here in the wake of my brother who recently died. I felt weak, sleepy, and had heavy headache. I requested that a bitter gourd fruit be chopped and boiled. At breakfast my sugar level was 154mg/dl and before lunch time it went down to 117mg/dl. I had taken about 5 cups of the gourd tea. This has been my home remedy for years now.
